Phemex is strongest for active traders who want futures, leverage and advanced crypto trading tools.
The futures interface was the standout in my testing. Phemex combines TradingView-powered charts, perpetual contracts, high leverage, trading bots and copy trading in one platform. It makes more sense for active traders than someone who simply wants to buy Bitcoin and hold it for years.
- Up to 100x leverage on selected futures contracts
- Competitive base futures trading fees
- Strong TradingView-powered trading interface
- Copy trading and automated trading bots
- Mock trading available for practicing
- Broad selection of crypto markets
- High leverage dramatically increases liquidation risk
- Funding can add costs to perpetual futures positions
- Platform may feel complex for complete beginners
- Availability and product eligibility vary by jurisdiction

| Base futures fees | 0.01% maker / 0.06% taker |

Crypto and leveraged futures trading involve substantial risk. Leverage magnifies both gains and losses, and a leveraged position can be liquidated quickly. This review is educational and is not financial advice. Always verify that Phemex and the products you want to use are permitted in your jurisdiction.
What is Phemex?
Phemex is a cryptocurrency trading platform founded in 2019 that offers spot markets, perpetual futures, trading bots, copy trading and other crypto-focused products.
The platform is clearly built with active trading in mind. You can buy and hold crypto, but the feature set becomes more interesting once you move into derivatives, advanced order types and automated trading.
Phemex currently advertises more than 600 cryptocurrencies across its ecosystem and up to 100x leverage on selected futures contracts. Its futures products include stablecoin-margined and coin-margined perpetual contracts.
For this review, I focused primarily on the part of Phemex that separates it from a basic crypto brokerage: perpetual futures and leveraged trading.
Who is Phemex best for?
I think Phemex makes the most sense for intermediate and experienced crypto traders who want more control than they get from a beginner-focused exchange.
- Perpetual futures traders who want access to leveraged crypto markets.
- Technical traders who rely heavily on charts, indicators and order management.
- High-leverage traders looking for selected contracts offering leverage up to 100x.
- Automation-focused traders interested in grid bots, algorithmic strategies or AI-assisted bot setup.
- Copy traders who want to follow eligible lead traders rather than manually execute every position.
What are Phemex's biggest advantages and disadvantages?
Strong futures trading experience
Phemex puts the chart, order book, trade controls and position management tools together in a layout that feels familiar if you have used an advanced crypto exchange before.
Up to 100x leverage
Selected perpetual contracts support leverage as high as 100x. That gives experienced traders significant capital efficiency, but it also means extremely small price movements can produce large percentage changes in your position equity.
Competitive base futures fees
Phemex currently lists standard futures trading fees of 0.01% for makers and 0.06% for takers. Higher-volume traders may qualify for different VIP rates.
More tools than a simple crypto brokerage
Trading bots, copy trading, mock trading and TradingView-powered charting give Phemex more depth than an exchange built primarily around simple buy-and-sell transactions.
Leverage is also the biggest risk
The same leverage that makes Phemex attractive to aggressive traders is also its biggest danger. At 100x leverage, your margin represents only a small portion of the total position you control. Liquidation can happen very quickly.
What happened when I traded Phemex with 100x leverage?
I traded ETH/USDT perpetual futures using isolated 100x leverage. The order history shown below covers roughly 40 minutes of trading on June 6, 2026.
I wanted to test the actual workflow rather than review the platform only from screenshots and marketing materials.
The two closed PnL entries visible in my order history were +46.05 USDT and -14.77 USDT, for +31.28 USDT in combined displayed closed PnL. Trading fees appear separately in the screenshot.
What stood out during the test?
The strongest part of the experience was how quickly I could move between analyzing the chart, entering a position and managing the open trade.
At very high leverage, however, everything becomes more sensitive. Small movements in ETH created much larger changes in the value of my margin.
My trading result above should not be interpreted as an expected return. High-leverage futures can produce rapid losses and liquidation. The purpose of this test was to evaluate the Phemex trading experience.
New-user promotions can change. Check the current Phemex offer and eligibility directly before depositing.
What is Phemex futures trading like in practice?
The futures interface is the part of Phemex I liked most because charting, order entry and position management live in the same workspace.
Phemex offers perpetual futures using stablecoins or crypto assets as margin. Selected contracts offer leverage up to 100x.
Traders can also configure take-profit and stop-loss orders while managing an open position.
TradingView integration
Phemex uses TradingView-powered charts, giving technical traders access to a familiar charting environment with drawing tools and indicators.
My preference is to use TradingView for deeper technical analysis and Phemex for the actual trade execution and position management.
How much exposure does 100x leverage actually create?
Leverage controls the size of your position relative to the margin you commit.
That does not mean you own $20,000 of ETH in the same way you would in a spot account. It means your leveraged derivatives position has approximately $20,000 in notional exposure.
This is also why fees and price movements can look surprisingly large relative to the amount of margin you initially posted.
How much does Phemex charge for futures trading?
Phemex currently publishes base futures trading fees of 0.01% for makers and 0.06% for takers.
| Trade Type | Base Fee | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| Futures Maker | 0.01% | Typically applies when your order adds liquidity to the order book. |
| Futures Taker | 0.06% | Typically applies when your order immediately removes liquidity from the order book. |
| Funding | Variable | Perpetual futures can involve periodic funding payments depending on the contract and market. |
Why do fees matter more when using high leverage?
Futures fees are calculated against the value of the position rather than simply the margin you post.
For example, a trader who commits $200 of margin at 100x leverage could control approximately $20,000 of notional exposure. A fee calculated against that position can therefore represent a much larger percentage of the original $200 margin.
Published trading rates can change, VIP tiers may receive different rates, and perpetual futures funding is separate from maker/taker trading fees. Check Phemex's current fee schedule before trading.
What other trading tools does Phemex offer?
Phemex has expanded beyond basic spot and manual futures trading.
Phemex offers automated strategies including grid-style trading and other configurable bot strategies.
Phemex's AI Bot can help generate parameters for automated trading strategies. Automation does not guarantee profitable results.
Users can follow eligible lead traders and copy selected trading activity rather than manually entering every position.
Simulated trading gives new users a way to learn the platform's trading interface before putting real capital at risk.
I particularly like mock trading as a starting point for anyone who has never used perpetual futures. Learning how position size, leverage, margin mode, take profit and stop loss work before adding real money is much safer than learning them during a live 100x position.
How does liquidation work on Phemex?
Phemex uses Mark Price as an important reference for futures liquidation rather than relying only on the last traded price you see changing on screen.
A leveraged position requires enough equity to satisfy its maintenance margin requirement. When position equity falls below the required level, liquidation can occur.
The actual liquidation point can depend on multiple factors, including:
- Entry price
- Position size
- Selected leverage
- Isolated versus cross margin
- Maintenance margin
- Fees
- Additional margin
- Mark Price
This is why the popular shorthand that "a 1% move liquidates a 100x trade" should not be treated as an exact liquidation formula.
The liquidation price displayed inside the actual Phemex position should be treated as the relevant reference for a live trade.
Is Phemex secure?
Phemex says it uses multiple security layers, including cold-wallet storage, account security controls and a Merkle Tree Proof-of-Reserves system.
Proof of Reserves is designed to let users verify that their balances are represented within the exchange's published reserve data.
Phemex also says its security architecture includes cold and warm wallet infrastructure, multi-signature controls and institutional custody technology.
Security features reduce certain risks but do not make a centralized cryptocurrency exchange risk-free. Crypto held on an exchange involves custody, operational and market risks that differ from holding assets in a self-custody wallet.
Does Phemex require identity verification?
Phemex uses identity-verification requirements for access to the platform's full feature set and withdrawals.
Some account functionality may be available before completing full verification, but Phemex's current documentation says KYC is required for withdrawals and access to the full set of platform features.
Requirements can also depend on your country or region. Users should not attempt to bypass geographic or identity restrictions.
Before depositing, check the current Phemex eligibility requirements for the country where you legally reside.
How do you start using Phemex?
The basic process is straightforward: create your account, fund it and then choose the market you want to trade.
Create your Phemex account and complete any required account verification.
Fund your account using an available supported deposit method.
Choose spot, futures or another eligible Phemex trading product.
Phemex currently promotes welcome rewards for qualifying new users. Reward amounts, requirements and availability can change.
Is Phemex worth using in 2026?
Phemex is one of the more compelling platforms I have tested specifically for active crypto futures trading.
The strongest combination is the futures interface, TradingView charting, leverage options, competitive base futures fees and the growing selection of automation tools.
My own 100x ETH/USDT test also gave me a much better feel for the platform than simply reading a feature list. Order entry and position management felt straightforward despite the complexity of the underlying product.
I would be less likely to choose Phemex if my only goal were buying Bitcoin once a month and moving it into long-term storage. The platform's biggest advantages are aimed at traders who actually intend to use the trading tools.
