Phemex Is One Of The Best Platforms For Trading

Phemex is an incredible platform for experienced traders looking for advanced tools. Not so great for traditional investors looking to buy and hold BTC or XRP.

How Is Phemex Different?

Phemex is a crypto trading platform built for people who want more than a simple place to buy Bitcoin and HODL. Launched in 2019, Phemex has grown into a full-featured trading platform offering spot crypto, perpetual futures, leverage, trading bots, AI-assisted automation and copy trading.

For someone new to crypto, Phemex might not be your 1st choice. You can still: choose a cryptocurrency, buy it on the spot market and hold it on the exchange. But the platform really begins to stand out when you are an active trader.

Phemex gives traders access to advanced futures markets, long and short positions, leverage of up to 100× on selected contracts, competitive trading fees and more sophisticated order controls. Instead of needing several separate services, many of the tools an active crypto trader may want are available directly inside the Phemex ecosystem.

What makes Phemex great isn't one single feature. They have so many cutting edge tools like AI bots and copy/paste trading strategies that you can’t find on other platforms.

Automation is another major reason we rate Phemex highly. Traders can use built-in trading bots, experiment with AI-assisted strategy configurations or use copy trading to automatically follow eligible traders. You don't have to use any of these features, but they give Phemex significantly more depth than a basic buy-and-hold crypto platform.

And finally, yes, we’re aware of their infamous nickname ‘Feemex’ due to their high margin fees. We’re happy to report that users with high trading volume see those fees drop dramatically. Now let’s review my very own trading experience with ETH futures on Phemex.

We Tested Phemex

My Experience Trading Phemex Futures At 100× Leverage

One of the biggest problems with crypto exchange reviews is that many of them simply repeat the exchange's feature list. I wanted to actually use Phemex before giving my final score.

I tested ETH/USDT perpetual futures using isolated 100× leverage. That gave me the chance to experience the futures order flow firsthand and see how clearly Phemex displayed entries, exits, position sizes, trading fees and realized profit or loss.

I was incredibly happy with Phemex. I was able to open isolated positions and set stop-loss orders quickly which is something I consider especially important when testing 100× leverage. The platform was similar to others like Blofin or Binance but Phemex allowed me to be much more aggressive with my trades.

Below you’ll see me trades which resulted in a nice $31 profit.

“Placing and closing 100× ETH futures trades on Phemex was incredibly easy.”

My actual Phemex futures order history. The screenshot above shows my ETH/USDT trades using isolated 100× leverage. It includes both profitable and losing trades rather than only highlighting a winning result.

What I Learned From Testing It

One completed trade in the screenshot shows a +46.05 USDT / +13.09% result, while another shows a -14.77 USDT / -17.05% result. I ended up profiting $31.28 from the whole experience.

I liked the futures trading experience a lot. I would not interpret that as an endorsement of using 100× leverage casually. At that level, both profits and losses can happen very quickly.

Pro Tip — My Trading Workflow

Use TradingView For Technical Analysis Before You Enter The Trade

One of the most effective workflows I found while trading on Phemex was using TradingView for technical analysis and chart reading, then using Phemex to execute and manage the futures trade. Phemex's charts are powered by TradingView, so the charting tools and indicators feel familiar.

One Account Gives You Several Different Ways To Trade.

The strongest part of Phemex isn't any single feature. It's how its trading tools fit together.

Imagine you begin by simply buying Bitcoin. Later, you become more comfortable reading charts and want to trade shorter-term movements.

Phemex gives you room to progress from spot trading into futures. You can then experiment with automated strategies, run trading bots or evaluate other traders through the copy-trading marketplace.

That's why we view Phemex as more of an active crypto trading platform than a simple crypto-buying app.

Phemex's Futures Pricing Gets Better, The More You Trade

Not going to lie, the fees are a little steep when you first begin trading on Phemex. Especially with leverage. Once you establish trading volume on the platform, the fees drop off significantly.

Can AI Actually Trade For You On Phemex?

Yes ‘but’ it helps to understand what Phemex's AI trading tools actually do.

Phemex offers AI-assisted bot functionality that can help generate parameters for automated trading strategies.

A trading bot needs instructions. It may need to know which price range to trade inside, how many orders to place and how aggressively to allocate capital.

Instead of requiring the trader to manually configure every parameter, Phemex can use recent market information to help generate those settings.

Important

AI Does Not Mean Guaranteed Profits

The AI is helping configure and automate a strategy. It does not know with certainty where Bitcoin, Ethereum or another cryptocurrency will trade next. An AI-generated strategy can still lose money.

The feature becomes much more compelling when you think about it as a usability improvement.

Setting up a trading bot can be confusing. Using AI to assist with that setup can lower the barrier to experimenting with automation.

Our Phemex Rating — 9.6 / 10

My 3-Step Recommendation For Trying Phemex

If Phemex is available to you and the platform fits the way you want to trade, keep the first move simple. Create the account, fund it deliberately and start with the products you actually understand.

01

Create your Phemex account through the partner link and review the current newcomer offer and eligibility requirements.

02

Deposit Into Your Account

Fund the account with the amount you intend to trade. With crypto and especially leverage, only use capital you can afford to risk.

The Questions I'd Want Answered Before Signing Up

What is Phemex?
Phemex is a crypto trading platform with spot trading, perpetual futures, leverage, trading bots and copy trading. I think its strongest use case is active trading rather than simple buy-and-hold.
Is Phemex good for beginners?
Beginners can start with spot trading, but futures and leverage are advanced products. If you're new, learn how margin, stop losses and liquidation work before increasing leverage.
What fees does Phemex charge?
The pricing shown in this review is 0.10% maker/taker for spot and 0.01% maker / 0.06% taker for standard futures trading. Funding and other costs can also apply.
Does Phemex have AI bots and copy trading?
Yes. Phemex offers automated trading tools, AI-assisted bot setup and copy trading. Automation can simplify execution, but it does not remove trading risk or guarantee profits.
Why can the futures price differ from the spot price?
A perpetual futures contract trades on its own market, so its last price can sit slightly above or below the underlying spot/index price. Phemex also displays index and mark prices, which serve different purposes.
Is Phemex safe?
Phemex highlights controls such as Proof of Reserves and cold storage. I also consider its January 2025 hot-wallet security incident relevant when scoring the platform, which is why security is not a perfect score.

Risk Disclosure: Cryptocurrency and leveraged derivatives trading involve substantial risk. Leverage magnifies both gains and losses and can result in rapid liquidation. Trading bots, AI-generated strategies and copy trading do not guarantee profits.
